3.2: Poster Developments

This concept was derived from exploring compositions and shapes of previous concepts seen below. In it, I aimed at bringing forth the shape of a beehive through the horizintal composition of piano keys which are distinguishable through their black and white colouring. The significiance of a beehive is great for our issue as this poster aims to rhetrocially inform the idea of piano/music being a space of comfort. A beehive also represents a space of communal gathering and one that is constantly needing protection. From our gathering of our issue we feel that the townhall is a beehive to many citys as it provides that place of central connection.

A problem of this idea however could be that we get the sense that the performance event is being held at the Beehive building in Wellington and that it is this building we are fundrasing for. This perceived message does help us however to link to New Zealand/Wellington in someway. However from a distance there is quite a deep rhetorical message.

In terms of design however, I really like the typeface which was inspired by Saul bass, as well as the colours and use of text inside the white piano keys.

Left: Two concepts that began as a starting point for this design.
