5.2 - Location Spreads Developments 02

02.

With my previous location developments, I felt that they too busy and the idea to use photographs wasn't successful as all three did not really relate to one another and fluently relate to the main illustration on one side of the page. To address this, I created the small flatlay illustrations which feature at the top and above the title text. These new illustrations help create that idea of the product being used, as well as enforcing the idea of line drawings. I decided against making these illustrations in colour as I wanted to emphasize that the peanut butter jar, tote bag, and mug are the intended focal point.

Also added to these spreads is a grading key, which helps the reader differentiate each location further. This key is placed below the main illustration with the hope that the reader first looks at the illustration and then down to the key.

An element that has been changed since my last development, is the change in font of the locations quote e.g. "An Unpretentious Emphasis on Taste & design" as seen on the F&F page. I decided to change the font to the frequently used 'Keep Calm' font, however, avoided making it all upper case as to avoid seeming like the words are being shouted.

Finally, another aspect that has been changed since my last developments, I the arrangement of the spreads in terms of the order. What was previous, was 1. Fix & Fogg 2. Vessel 3. Precinct35. What has changed, is that I switched Vessel and Precinct35 around with one another. This was done as I felt the colours featured worked better when placed in this order. What I mean by this, is that now the order goes orange/red to yellow to blue/orange - essentially creating a sandwich of orange, with the yellow of Precinct35 in the middle of the three.
