2.2 - Precinct35 Practice Collages
With Precinct35, I wanted to bring forward their contemporary style and yet strong appreciation towards natural and high quality materials. The collages above are all developments of one another and play on these ideas well. The use of a strong and vivid yellow which is present on their tote bag product helps the collages pop, while the contrasting browns and greens of both the colour filled block and cropped out display unit help tone down and neutralize the designs. In all of the designs I thought the idea of using the chair's legs and negative space around them to be dividers between colours works well as it creates clean lines and an almost grid like effect. This grid effect can be seen through the use of predominantly three columns which lead vertically down the page.
In terms of most successful, i believe the first/top left is, as it has an equal amount of negative and positive space. The simple use of Precinct35's logo also helps further identify which shop this collage is for.
An overall issue with these developments is the fact that the product I intend to highlight in my final brochure - the yellow tote bag does not feature and so instead the idea that viewers may perceive, is that Precinct35 is just a furniture and homeware shop. I, therefore, need to show that this is not just the case and Precinct35 do in fact sell items of clothing and accessories such as tote bags.
